MSDH is reporting an additional 975 cases of COVID-19 in Mississippi and 14 deaths. Thirteen COVID-19 related deaths occurred between October 2 and October 4, and one occurred on September 17, identified from a death certificate report. Mississippi's total of COVID-19 cases for the year now stands at 101,678, with 3,027 deaths.
MSDH has identified 26 new cases in residents of long-term care facilities and 5 deaths, included in the totals above. There are currently 123 ongoing outbreaks of COVID-19 in long-term care facilities.
