The first medical marijuana grow house in Mississippi has been licensed in Meridian. The owner comes with experience in delivering a pharmaceutical grade product.
Randy Mire is the CEO and founder of Capitol Wellness Solutions in Baton Rouge, the medical marijuana pharmacy which had the first license to dispense in Louisiana. Mire now has the first licensed grow house in the state of Mississippi. Based in Meridian, Southern Crop will include a production facility and at least 5 dispensaries. Mire brings his expertise to establishing Southern Crop as a seed-to-sale apparatus.
“The goal now is for Southern Crop to touch every part of the product. It’s know as Seed to Sale, so Southern Crop will actually be known as a seed to sale solution for Mississippi residents – meaning, we will grow the product, we will process the product, we will then dispense the product to the patient,” Mire explains.
Mire has also appreciated the warm welcome his company has received from the Meridian business community. He wants to bring in well-paying jobs for at least 240 local residents.
“We’re definitely giving back to that community – we’re going to be hiring a lot of local employees there. We do have experts coming in from around the country, but there will be a lot of local employees that are hired. And, we’ve already onboarded several,” he says.
Mire expects the grow and cultivation center to be open and running by October of this year, and the dispensaries should be open by December.
