MPB Launches New Radio Schedule with Expanded Music and New Local Shows
JACKSON, Miss. | December 23, 2025 -- Mississippi Public Broadcasting (MPB) is introducing a new radio schedule beginning January 5, 2026 that expands its music programming, adds new locally produced shows, and creates a clearer, more consistent listening experience for audiences across the state.
Weekday mornings will continue with Morning Edition until 9 a.m., followed by The Blend, a music block hosted by DJ Java, airing from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Southern Remedy remains in its weekday 11 a.m. time slot, while all other current local programs will move to their new weekday afternoon timeslot of 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. On Fridays, The Gestalt Gardener expands from a one to two-hour program, starting at 9 a.m.
The updated lineup will introduce a couple of brand-newlocal shows that listeners are sure to enjoy, starting with It’s Lit, Y’all on Mondays, hosted by Ellen Daniels of the Mississippi Book Festival, and Southern Wilds on Wednesdays, hosted by Amanda Mills of Mississippi Outdoors.
Listeners will also get the chance to hear some new national shows making their way into the schedule including, Sports in America, a weekly sports talk show, Sound Opinions, a one-stop shop for musical critique, and Modern Jet Set, a music mix of national and international sounds.
“The revised schedule places a stronger emphasis on news, music, and essential information, while making our programming easier to navigate and more closely aligned with listeners’ daily routines,” said Anna Neel, COO of Mississippi Public Broadcasting. “As our audience and their listening habits continue to evolve, and as they have more choices than ever before, it’s important that we remain responsive. This update allows us to stay true to our mission by delivering music and information that reflect our communities and meet listeners where they are.”
