Jackson, Miss.- Mississippi Public Broadcasting’s annual summer learning event is back for the seventh year. Families are invited to come together in person, June 18 from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Jackson Convention Complex for Summer Learning Family Fun Day 2022. Explore! Discover! Grow!  This event is designed to bridge summer learning gaps through the encouragement of reading, exploring new opportunities, discovering unique possibilities, and growing beyond your imagination.

“We are excited to host this statewide event in person again after two years due to the pandemic. Our goal is to come back bigger and better than before, with more partners who will help us provide a fun, resourceful, and impactful experience,” said Tara Wren, Director of Education.  “Families will be able to engage with businesses and organizations focused on education and healthy lifestyles. Children and parents will walk away with new perspectives and ideas they can use throughout the summer to help close the achievement gap. MPB invests in this event because our children are our most important work.”

MPB Education hosts the event annually in sync with national efforts to ensure children keep learning and growing during the summer months.  This year’s event includes storytime, hands-on literacy and math exercises, live shows, free books, games, face painting, giveaways, MPB and local character photo opportunities, art activities, and more. Summer Learning Family Fun Day is sponsored by Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi.

MPB Education will expand on this event by offering daily, online learning activities from June 20-July 29. Families can go online to education.mpbonline.org to register for the event or to find out more information.
