About Everlasting: Life and Legacy of Medgar Evers
MPB is proud to announce "Everlasting: Life and Legacy of Medgar Evers" which premieres exclusively on MPB Television. The film explores the life, work, and enduring influence of civil rights leader Medgar Evers, who was assassinated outside his Jackson home in 1963.
Originally from Decatur, Mississippi, Evers played a pivotal role in the civil rights movement as the state’s first field secretary for the NAACP. He organized voter registration drives, investigated acts of racial violence, and advocated for the desegregation of public institutions. Everlasting traces both his personal and professional journey, offering insight into his leadership, the dangers he faced, and the lasting impact of his work—and his death—on his family and the nation.
The documentary weaves together decades of archival material with new footage and interviews with historians, activists, and Evers' own family members. It paints a nuanced portrait of Evers not just as a leader, but also as a husband and father striving to balance the weight of his mission with the needs of his family. The film also places Evers' work within the broader context of the civil rights struggle in Mississippi during the mid-20th century.
To accompany the film, MPB is releasing a companion podcast series that builds on its central themes. The podcast explores the political and social climate of the era, surfaces lesser-known stories, and examines the continued relevance of Evers’ activism today.

Join us for an engaging, standards-aligned professional development opportunity centered around a powerful new 2-hour MPB documentary premiering on September 18, 2025. This workshop is designed to help educators integrate documentary-based instruction, primary sources, and inquiry-based learning into their classrooms using the Inquiry Design Model.
Educators earn 1 CEU and leave with evidence-based, standards aligned resources that can be applied to enhance student learning. They may earn additional CEUS by submitting an in-depth, scripted 2 week lesson plan based on the workshop blueprint.
At the 2025 Medgar Evers Symposium, MPB captured powerful reflections inside the Legacy Lounge, a special space created to honor Evers’ centennial. Held in Jackson, Mississippi, from June 26–29, this four-day event brought together activists, organizers, and community members. During the symposium, MPB debuted an extended clip from Everlasting: Life & Legacy of Medgar Evers and invited attendees to share personal stories, insights, and memories tied to Evers’ legacy. These heartfelt interviews explore when participants first learned about Medgar Evers, how his work has impacted their lives, and what his mission means in today’s fight for justice. The resulting videos serve as a living tribute—echoing the enduring influence of a man whose life continues to inspire generations.
