Four Tornadoes Confirmed, Updated Damage Reports

PEARL – The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency has received official damage reports from three counties from Saturday’s tornadoes and severe weather. There are 10 homes destroyed, two with major damage and 20 with minor damage for a total of 32. There are no reported injuries.

A breakdown of damage by county:

  • Covington: Two homes with minor damage.
  • Jasper: Ten homes destroyed. Red Cross Shelter that had been open is now closed, everyone affected has found housing.
  • Lauderdale: Two homes with major damage and 18 with minor damage.

 

The National Weather Service in Jackson has confirmed at least four tornadoes touched down in the state with surveys still ongoing.

  • Jasper County: EF-2 tornado
  • Covington County: Two EF-1 tornadoes.
  • Lawrence County: EF-0 tornado.
