Mississippi’s congressional delegation is heading back to Washington after all four House members handily won re-election.

In south Mississippi, Republican 4th district Representative Steven Palazzo fended off challenges from 5 others to win re-election to a third term. He says his priorities include reversing military spending cuts, border security, energy independence - and the economy:

"Get America working again," he says. "And that means working on our tax code, and putting a moratorium on these federal agencies that are killing American jobs. Set up a commission to go back and recommend to Congress regulations that need to be repealed to help improve job creation in America and American competitiveness."

Third district Congressman Gregg Harper, also a Republican, won re-election against three challengers Tuesday night.

"It's been a long, long year," he says. "We've served less than six years, but this is our ninth time on a ballot. We're really appreciative to all the support and all our friends. This isn't something you can do on your own."

Second district Representative Bennie Thompson, the state’s only Democrat in Congress, defeated two challengers.

In north Mississippi, Republican Alan Nunnelee beat three challengers to retain his 1st district seat. Nunnelee is in recovery from a stroke he suffered earlier this year during surgery to remove a brain tumor. In a statement, Nunnelee said he remains committed to shrinking government in order to improve the economy and grow jobs.
