Fitch is now is the third GOP candidate to formally announce her campaign, joining former House Speaker Philip Gunn, and Agriculture and Commerce Commissioner Andy Gipson.
Speaking Wednesday to supporters at Mississippi GOP Headquarters in Jackson, Fitch said her campaign will focus on supporting priorities will be to support small businesses, protecting Mississippians, and making life more affordable across the state.
Fitch said her track record as Attorney General is a testament to her ability to lead the state. She said, “I made Mississippi a real fighter in fraud, and we’ve recovered $101 million so far. I’ve fought to protect our children from predators[...] including the social media cartel that would put their profits over our children’s welfare.”
She also highlighted her office’s role in defending Mississippi’s 15-week abortion ban, the case that ultimately led to the overturning of Roe v Wade.
If given the chance to serve as Governor, Fitch says her goals will be to make Mississippi a place where businesses can thrive and residents are safe.
“We’ve really got to support our small businesses, our entrepreneurs, our innovators in our state,” said Fitch. “We’ve got to look at phasing out the income tax. We’ve got to continue to jump in for our healthcare, and make sure that everyone’s got good healthcare outcomes in our state. And education is so important.”
Other potential Republican contenders include State Auditor Shad White, billionaire Tommy Duff, and Lt. Gov. Delbert Hosemann.
