Today, MSDH is reporting an additional 1,767 cases of COVID-19 in Mississippi and 91 deaths. Seventy-six deaths occurred between December 30, 2020, and January 4, 2021, and 15 occurred between December 10 and December 30, identified from death certificate reports. Mississippi's total of COVID-19 cases for the year now stands at 225,444, with 4,975 deaths.
Among cases and deaths already reported, MSDH has identified 61 new cases in residents of long-term care facilities, and 15 deaths. There are currently 227 ongoing outbreaks of COVID-19 in long-term care facilities.
