Today MSDH is reporting an additional 1,528 cases of COVID-19 in Mississippi and 36 deaths. Fifteen deaths occurred between January 22 and January 29, and 21 occurred between December 24 and January 23, identified from death certificate reports. Mississippi's total of COVID-19 cases now stands at 274,190, with 6,018 deaths. Note: One death in Jasper County was counted in error, and has been removed.
Among cases and deaths already reported, MSDH has identified 33 new cases in residents of long-term care facilities, and 3 deaths. There are currently 184 ongoing outbreaks of COVID-19 in long-term care facilities.
