Three Mississippi teenagers accused of killing a 6 year old boy will remain in jail. MPB's Mark Rigsby was in the Madison County courtroom when the suspects went before a judge for their first court appearance.
Families of the victim and of the suspects filled the seats in Madison County Justice Court Monday morning. Judge Bruce McKinley denied bond for 19 year old Byron McBride, Jr., and 17 year olds Dwan Wakefield Jr,. and D'Allen Washington. The trio is charged with capital murder. Amos Archie says the victim, 6 year old Kingston Frazier, is his great nephew.
"It's not good for either family. It's a bad situation. I pray for them. I'm praying for our family. We're praying for the community, the state, the city. It's normally something you don't see happen."
The boy was asleep in the back seat of a car stolen from the parking lot of a grocery store in Jackson early last Thursday morning. Authorities issued an ambert alert. The car was found in Madison County hours later. Kingston Fraizer had been shot multiple times. According to the Associated Press, court papers show Wakefield told investigators McBride stole the car and shot Frazier. After the hearing, an emotional Byron McBride, Sr. says his son didn't kill the boy.
"My son did not kill that baby! Did not kill that baby ! But y'all gonna to kill my son! Y'all gonna kill my son! That boy did not do that! Y'all gonna kill my son!"
All three capital murder defendants will have a preliminary hearing in June. Because of his age, only McBride is eligible for the death penalty.
