JACKSON, Miss. — Mississippi Public Broadcasting (MPB) is proud to announce that the documentary Everlasting: Life and Legacy of Medgar Evers has received a Southeast Emmy® Award in the category of Director – Long Form Content.
Directed by MPB Chief Content Officer, Taiwo Gaynor, the two-hour documentary explores the life, leadership, and enduring impact of civil rights leader Medgar Evers. The film highlights Evers’ work as Mississippi’s first NAACP field secretary and his lasting influence on generations of Americans through archival footage, personal stories, and interviews with historians, family members, and community leaders.
“I am so proud of the production team and MPB family for the years of meaningful work. They poured their heart and soul into telling the story of one of America’s most important heroes,” said the documentary’s director, Taiwo Gaynor. “Reena Evers-Everette trusted us to tell this story with one goal in mind; preserving the legacy of her father, Medgar Wiley Evers.”
