JACKSON, Miss. —Mississippi Public Broadcasting (MPB) invites audiences to experience the enduring legacy of Grammy Award-winning blues legend Bobby Rush in its newest original documentary, King of the Chitlin’ Circuit. The documentary broadcast premiere is August 10 at 8 p.m. on MPB Television, and donors can now stream on-demand through PBS Passport.
Told through Bobby Rush's own personal stories, unforgettable performances and reflections on his career, the film offers an intimate look at one of Mississippi's most influential musical icons.
"It's an honor to direct a documentary on someone who I hold in such high esteem,” says director Al Warren. “I love Bobby Rush. He's a mentor, an inspiration and a very close friend. The film is inspired by his energy, his way of being and the mark he's left on [our] life."
Viewers can watch the broadcast premiere Monday, Aug. 10, at 8 p.m. on MPB Television or stream the documentary anytime with PBS Passport on the PBS App.
