MPB to Premiere Medgar Evers Documentary “Everlasting” in September
JACKSON, Miss. — Mississippi Public Broadcasting (MPB) will premiere Everlasting: Life and Legacy of Medgar Evers, a powerful new documentary exploring the life, impact, and enduring legacy of civil rights icon Medgar Evers. The film debuts September 2025, on MPB Television.
MPB original production, Everlasting features in-depth interviews with Evers' family, and colleagues including his wife Myrlie Evers-Williams, daughter Reena Evers-Everette, and those who worked alongside him during the Civil Rights Movement.
“This project honors Medgar Evers not only as a pivotal figure in the fight for civil rights, but also as a husband, father, and deeply committed Mississippian,” said MPB Chief Content Officer Taiwo Gaynor. “We are proud to bring his story to new generations and shine a light on his enduring legacy.”
In addition to the broadcast, MPB will launch a companion podcast series, Everlasting: The Legacy Podcastreleasing weekly after the documentary airs. The podcast, hosted by Rita Brent, will feature extended interviews from the documentary, along with archive clips, and in-depth conversations with special guests.
Additional digital video content, along with educational resources including lesson plans, and curriculum guides will be made free to educators and available at mpbonline.org/everlasting.
