Shelia Byrd is the director of Communications. She is responsible for internal and external communications and brand awareness. Prior to joining MPB, Byrd was Weber-Shandwick’s managing editor for the General Motors Story Bureau. She has previously worked as vice president for strategic communications at Hope Enterprise Corporation/Hope Policy Institute/Hope Credit Union and director of communications for the City of Jackson, Miss.

Byrd has won industry awards for integrated communications and writing.  She also was a noted journalist for The Associated Press for more than a decade. A native of Louisiana, she holds a B.A. in Mass Communication from Grambling State University. 

Byrd has served on the boards of the Boys & Girls Club of the Mississippi Delta and Keep Jackson Beautiful. She also was a member of the Jackson State University College of Business Advisory Board and the City of Jackson Open Data Governance Committee.
