Early Childhood educators from Jackson, MS and the surrounding areas recently gathered at MPB for the PBS KIDS Edcamp.  Edcamp is not a traditional workshop, in that it gives the participating educators the opportunity to design their own professional learning experience by determining the topic for each session.

This event provides educators who work with children in schools, childcare, Head Start, or homes with an opportunity to share, collaborate, and learn from each other.  Educators were fully engaged during the sessions as they discussed various education topics some of which included: parental engagement, STEAM and science instruction and ideas, creative play ideas, and technology in the classroom just to name a few.  Participants connected with other educators, learned new tips and shared ideas.

Educators left empowered to implement lessons learned into their learning environments and many look forward to continue to engage in similar professional learning opportunities in the future.  This project is funded by a Ready To Learn grant provided by the Department of Education to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
