The Mississippi Book Festival is back in full force this year.  After modifying its format for two years due to the coronavirus pandemic, the event heads back to the capitol grounds where it began in 2015.  Over 90 authors will be onsite, and the festival will feature panels from a wide array of literary figures.

Included in the list is Pulitzer Prize winner Alice Walker.  Walker, whose panel will be held virtually, is an author of short stories, children's books and seven novels - most notably 1982's The Color Purple.

MPB's Michael Guidry spoke with Walker about writing and the purpose of books.
