Today, MSDH is reporting an additional 517 cases of COVID-19 in Mississippi and 33 deaths (13 of which occurred between August 7 and September 1, identified from death certificates). Mississippi's total of COVID-19 cases for the year now stands at 88,322, with 2,656 deaths. Note: One death previously reported in Lee County has been corrected to Itawamba County.
Long-term care facilities have reported 53 new cases among residents, and 19 deaths. There are currently 146 active outbreaks of COVID-19 in long-term care facilities.
