Around 113,000 Mississippians have recently registered to vote, increasing the number of active voters in the state to 1.9 million. According to the Secretary of State's website, nearly 50 polling locations have been moved, but not all precincts are reporting location changes. Secretary of State Michael Watson says voters should double-check to make sure they know where to vote. "You can go on our website, YallVote.MS to look there for your polling location. You can also call your circuit clerk's office, as well as your elections commissioner. So make sure you're prepared to know where you're going to vote."
A valid ID will be required to vote at the polls. If a voter's name is not on the roll, they can still cast an affidavit ballot.
Voters will not be required to wear masks, however, free masks will be provided at every location. Watson says poll managers will be wearing face coverings and will be sanitizing voting equipment. "You will see mask and gloves and face shields. Pens, styluses, additional poll managers as we mentioned to you last time. The legislature gave us funding to hire more poll managers that will be wiping down the tables, the doorknobs, the machines."
Watson doesn't anticipate long lines at the polls, however, anyone in line when the polls close at 7:00 p.m. will still be allowed to cast their ballot.
