At the top of the ballot is the much anticipated U.S. presidential race between President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden. Mississippi's Incumbent Republican U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde Smith is fending off a second challenge for the seat from Democrat Mike Espy a former U.S. Agriculture Secretary. Three of Mississippi's four Congressmen are being challenged for re-election. Also there are four state supreme court races on the ballot, two of them have opponents.

The two page ballot also includes three referendums. Residents can vote yes or no to legalizing medical marijuana. There are two options Initiative 65 which provides medical marijuana for 22 debilitating illnesses. Alternative Measure 65A would allow the legislature to set-up a medical marijuana program. Mississippians can also vote up or down FOR a new state flag design and remove a two-tier process for electing statewide offices. The referendum says whoever wins the majority of the votes wins the race. Period.
