Today, MSDH is reporting an additional 578 cases of COVID-19 in Mississippi and 23 deaths. Thirteen deaths occurred between September 17 and October 7, and 10 occurred between August 19 and September 29, identified from death certificate reports. Mississippi's total of COVID-19 cases for the year now stands at 102,819, with 3,074 deaths.
Among cases and deaths already reported, MSDH has identified 29 new cases in residents of long-term care facilities, and 2 deaths. There are currently 125 ongoing outbreaks of COVID-19 in long-term care facilities.
