Mississippi Public Broadcasting is investigating reports of weak reception or no signal for WMAE channel 12 television viewers in the Tupelo area.
This issue began sometime after July 2 at 10 a.m. when a change to a different frequency, mandated by the Federal Communications Commission, for channel 12 was implemented.
Prior to the change, WMAE viewers who use an over-the-air antenna were directed to rescan their televisions in order to pick up the new frequency. Cable and satellite subscribers did not need to rescan. However, MPB is aware that some Comcast subscribers initially were not receiving the WMAE signal but are now.
Initial reports indicate WMAE’s new frequency has poor reception causing the channel to be unavailable.
MPB Technical Services is monitoring the issue and working to resolve the problem as soon as possible. For now, there is nothing for viewers to do at home.
