JACKSON, Miss. – Mississippi’s urban farms are highlighted in the new season of “Fit to Eat,” a Mississippi Public Broadcasting original television program hosted by Chef Rob Stinson.

The show, now in its ninth season, educates residents on the benefits of healthier home cooking, using the state’s abundance of agricultural resources. MPB will air nine consecutive new episodes every Saturday at 1 p.m., starting Sept. 10. “Fit to Eat” also airs nationally on the Create channel.

This season’s special guests are owners of local urban farms and businesses who tout the benefits of local food products and organic processes as they assist Stinson in the preparation of pescatarian, vegetarian or vegan meals.

“I absolutely love the theme of this season centering around urban farming. The input from the guests was both educational and inspirational,” said Stinson, who is also a Gulf Coast restaurateur. “The food shots this year are by far the best ever, making season nine a must watch.”

In each episode, Registered Dietician Rebecca Turner also offers nutritional guidance to promote an overall healthier lifestyle.

“The series producer, Zeke Bandy, has worked with Rob and Rebecca to make this the best season of ‘Fit to Eat’ yet,” MPB Director of Television John Gibson said. “I think viewers will really enjoy the guests we have on each episode. They add a new dimension to the series.”
