288 new COVID-19 cases, 12 new deaths reported May 9

Today, the Mississippi State Department of Health is reporting 288 new cases of COVID-19 in Mississippi and 12 new deaths. Mississippi's total of COVID-19 cases since March 11 now stands at 9,378, with 421 deaths. The number of Mississippians currently hospitalized with confirmed COVID-19 infection is now 436.

Sixty-one of the new cases reported today were among residents in long-term care facilities, and there are now 113 active outbreaks of COVID-19 in long-term care facilities (where an outbreak is one or more cases among residents or staff).

MSDH data collection now includes charts of counties with a high weekly incidence of COVID-19 cases based on the most recent seven days of cases and the county population.
